Hello All,
The following pictures are from my road trips and travels I wanted to share. Now that I have some time to take vacations and a new digital camera, here at Smugmug seems like a good place to do just that. I had fun hiking around trying to get great shots, some shots are good, some not so good, but it was the effort getting them. To all the folks I have met along the trails, I enjoyed your stories and experiences and thanks for the photo tips.

Vacation 2009 : This vacation I decided to visit the places I had missed in times past which included Antelope Canyon in the other collection, Lake Powell and points around Page, AZ. Lees Ferry, AZ and the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. It was warm during the trip, leaving California on May 16th it averaged mid 80's and was pleasant. During this time it did cool down from a front that was blowing in and I even saw rain at the beginning of my trip. As I got to the Grand Canyon it was overcast and a bit cooler which I assume is because of the elevation. My last day there it rained which woke me up and rain was likely to show again according to the weather man.

Antelope Canyon, AZ : Vacation May 2009 I spent a few days in Page, AZ and the surrounding area to see what I had missed before. Antelope Canyon was part of my itinerary as I have never been there and I have never shot photos in low light before so I figured this was a good place to try my hand. My preparation for this was reviewing a few googled websites and seeing what I needed to do. OK I did shoot the moon one night when it was full, three shots, the first one was out of focus, the second one I caught a plane in the picture and still a bit fuzzy, the third was the best. So I figured the best way was to shoot with Aperture priority. Some shots took 30 seconds, but mostly on average around 18 seconds or so. I used a Canon 30D Digital SLR camera with a Canon EF-S 17-85mm ISL Lens and a tripod, NO FLASH. It is VERY Dusty and sandy in Antelope Canyon and you will want to protect your camera. I brought a can of air to blow the dust off the equipment while there and after my trip I took my camera to Canon in Irvine to have it cleaned by factory techs for 30 bucks. Well worth it.

My Jardine Taco : Taco is a Jardine Parrot with a playful disposition, loves to chew on everything including my fingers, guess we play hard. he knows several words and meanings: Easy! means stop chewing my fingers... when he falls off the counter and lands on the floor, most of the time he laughs, yes laughs. he likes to cuddle, when it is cool he will climb down my shirt and fall asleep or sleep in the corner of my neck. When I am home he is out and is with me, when I am at work he's in his cage for safety reasons, although I have forgotten to close the cage on occasion he was right on top of it in his normal place. Feb 2007 will my 11th year with Taco and I hope to have many more.

Joshua Tree National Park July 05 & May 06 : Hello All, The following pictures of from 2 trips to Joshua Tree National Park, One morning in July, 2005 I decided to get up and take pictures of sunrise in the desert. I left early and good thing too, it got up to 90 degrees real fast and peeked at 106 degrees for the day. My little truck does not have AC. The second trip was to break in a new camera; once again it was warm but not as hot. It was something to do in my off time. Brian

Bailey Colorado visit : This was a visit to my brother’s home in 2002. I rested, visited, had a few drinks, stogies and roamed the Colorado countryside. We hiked some trails close to home and drove to Mt. Evens the tallest paved road in North America 14,260ft. The clouds are just that including static electricity. When we figured out what the noises were, we climbed down the tallest point only to have thunder and lightning zap right behind us by a few minutes…

Arches & Canyonlands National Park to Monument Valley AZ. Nov 06 : Along the way. I-15 through California, Las Vegas, Arizona and Utah to I-70 to Highway 191 to Moab.
